If I could write a letter to myself at 25 what would I say? Dear Mandy,
Trust that the things that bring you joy are the things that you should continue to make a point of doing. The thoughts you have that keep you trapped in the future all the time are an addiction that it will take some time to beat, but you will beat it through meditation and yoga and mostly through self love. You always have the option to accept yourself at any moment even if only for the moment and find some peace from the storm of expectations you create around yourself.
Have more fun. Feed your spirit and play play play. Spend time with people you love and be present for them. Talk to strangers. You are not alone - as much as you may like to pretend you can do everything yourself - you don't need to. Ask for help and it will always be given to you.
I love you!
An older version of you.
PS - you keep getting better looking as you age ;-)
Now - if I were 50 - what would I write to myself today???
Dear Mandy Mayhem,
Stay still. People want to love you and work with you toward your career and love goals, but you are impossible to pin down. What are you running from? Everything you do is brave. Give yourself more credit! Try to focus and discipline your mind into staying present, noticing the flowers and appreciating all of the AMAZING things you have. Don't lose perspective of this adventurous life you lead and slip into a narcissistic view of your daily dilemmas. LAUGH IT OFF and move on.
You are finally living your dream, and it will pay off. It already is paying off. If you stop trying to do everything at once you will find more satisfaction from the things you complete. You scurry around clogging yourself with busy-ness because you are afraid of what will happen when you aren't making things happen. When you are still is when the universe can offer things to you. It is very important that you take time to rest. Take one day off of working per week.
You do not need to live in poverty to be a great artist. It is time to stop crucifying yourself for your past mistakes and move forward into your light. Own your greatness.
Thank you for being so brave. Everything you are doing is right, and none of it contains the weight of the world. Have fun.
I love you!
A wiser version of you.
PS - you keep getting better looking as you ripen.
Lastly - if I were my 8 year old self looking at myself today what would I say?
All of the clothes the teenagers wear now are still in style when I'm a grown up? Hoooo-ly! I'm gonna keep my moon boots and wear them again!
You are my hero! I can't believe I grow up to be a professional cheerleader, and then an actress! So I basically get to PLAY for my whole life?! And I'm a really rad Mom to a cool kid?! I never thought I would even get to see Disney World - never mind the whole rest of the world! I am really proud of myself.
PS - Spend more time with your friends!!!
